Thanks. This solution is good because it's almost realtime to generate and I can quickly draw the curves that define the mountain ranges etc. It essentially uses the distance between the curves and surface to push up the peaks. Then some turbulence multiplied in there, plus I've added a null to act as a height centre for the highest peak.
