Thanks. This solution is good because it's almost realtime to generate and
I can quickly draw the curves that define the mountain ranges etc.
It essentially uses the distance between the curves and surface to push up
the peaks. Then some turbulence multiplied in there, plus I've added a null
to act as a height centre for the highest peak.

Hey that's pretty cool. Care to share a screenshot of the ICE Tree?
BTW WorldMachine was mentioned and I have to say it is pretty addictive
and fairly easy to get decent results from it.

Here's what I managed to make. None of Andy's Diamond stuff, just a

smaller
curves to define some minor spurs off it.

Subject: mountains

Hi All,

I'm animating some maps, like 2d style top down, but my client
wants to
see
some height on the mountain ranges. So as the camera moves across
we
can see
the peaks have height. So this doesn't need to be too accurate, so
I
want to
some how automate building a mountain range based on maybe me
drawing a
curve to define the length and shape of the mountain range peaks.
Does
that
make sense? I'm sure there was some plugin for Soft years ago that
created
mountains?

Anyone remember this or have thoughts?

Thanks

Chris
