Each version of Softimage comes with a very specific version of mental ray. Therefore, if you know the version of Softimage used to render the scene (which is available in the .scntoc), then you should know the version of mental ray used as well.
if you rendered with a 3rd party renderer, such as Arnold, then you would be responsible for keeping track of versioning as it's essentially a plugin and outside the scope of Softimage. Most 3rd party tools would leave some kind of metadata in the scene, such as a custom property, containing the version information as they need it to ensure you are using a version compatible with the shaders you've applied on your objects/partitions. To: [email protected] Hi all, Just a quick question, but is there a way to figure out what renderer/version was used for a scene? I have some older scenes that need to be re-rendered, but I don't want to run into issues due to more recent versions and depreciated options It looks like the .scntoc doesn't have any info on this. -- cheers!
