Depends on your perspective. From a reading perspective, the new formatting is an upgrade as I can now read the message in the sea of text.
For replying/editing, it’s a downgrade as the message is a picture/object that cannot be trimmed/edited in a message. You'd think by 2018 somebody would've figured this out by now.
