Matt,
Bill answered your questions regarding the sound card.
The LO frequency is the nominal operating frequency for the Softrock.
For my case - the 20M LO is 14.05 MHz and the 30M LO is 10.125 MHz. I
originally got these figures from Tony's posting describing the Softrock.
These frequencies can also be calculated from the crystal frequencies. The
30M crystal is 40.5 MHz (also the oscillator frequency). Divided by 4 this
comes to 10.125 MHz. The 20M crystal is a third overtone crystal of 18.73
MHz. Multiplied by 3 the oscillator frequency is 56.19 MHz. Then this value
is divided by 4 resulting in 14.0475 MHz.
I have never calibrated the S-meter but the procedure can be found on
the Rocky web site at www.dxatlas.com/Rocky. You would need to use a
calibrated source to produce a 50 uV signal (S9) such as the Elecraft signal
generator.
