If you're really cost conscious, take a look at PowerSDR. It does IIC
through the parallel port. It wouldn't be too difficult to lift that code
into WinRad, which has a DLL extension feature. You could theoretically
jiggle more than just the Si570. Try selecting filters, maybe through a
spare FST3253 or some BS170 (to stay inside Tony's part box). Just whack
apart an old printer cable.
