Thanks very much, Ross, I'll let you know :-) The MC9S08SH8CPJ 20 pin DIP chips which I ordered yesterday from Mouser are on the FEDEX truck for delivery today. So I am concentrating on getting the New controller built for Sat. The main advantage of the MC9S08SH8CPJ is that it is a 5 volt part and will directly interface with the LCD and Keyboard. This will make an excellent "Terminal" as in H19, ADM3, VT100, etc, with both RS-232 and IIC interfaces. I have been waiting for this chip. Most of the S08 chips are 3.3 volts. If I get the new controller built in time, I will try the WB6DHW Si570 board and Softrock LITE combo again. I'm really waiting for the SR-LX 8.1 or whatever I'm getting :-) At least the controller is functioning very well. Today I added two more user settable parameters in addition to startup Frequency F0 and offset. They are the startup memory address and the startup digit (1,10,100, or memory address digit ) :-) I also sped up the memory initialization of holding in the encoder for 5 seconds during power up, by only zeroing out the non-zero memories. It takes 5ms to do a write so it was taking .005 x 8192 = 40.96 seconds. It will still take that long to initialize the very first time. But of course I forgot I have ordered the 24AA32A EEPROMs which will provide only 1024 memories or 5.12 seconds to clear :-) Talk about minutia or detail, yuk :-)
Thanks again for your offer of help. R. wrote: > John, > I've got some two-inch-wide copper foil tape if you > need any.
