Subject: [softrock40] Si570 Sample and follow-up phone call received
I filled out SiLabs' form to get a sample Si570 a few weeks ago. It
arrived today. I had only asked for a single piece, figuring that if
I can get a single unit to work and make me happy, they really do
deserve my money for any other quantity I'd want. They probably
deserve my money anyway, given the all that I've read about them on
this list. They sent me 2 chips anyway. What a nice way to start off
the weekend!
About an hour after the UPS guy dropped the box off, my phone rings.
It's Lori (spelling?), the local SiLabs inside sales rep. Said she
was asked to follow up with me on the order. Okay, so she's a sales
person and wants to sell more stuff.. I get that... I try to avoid
sales people every day at work. I figured I'd be nice, though, since
these folks have seemed so nice to the HAM community so far. I told
her I was a HAM, as well as the basic intentions behind wanting one of
these (find out [first hand] just how much of a silver bullet these
things might be). She asked if I wanted/needed any other information
about them, which I currently said no to (I hadn't even opened the box
to look at them!!), but took her contact details anyway. Now, she's
probably not as good of a resource as the SiLabs engineering folks
others on the list here have been in touch with, but if anyone thinks
it might be useful to have another contact at SiLabs, I'd be more than
happy to pass her details along. Also, if there are any questions
that might be appropriate for a sales person, I can try to field them
with her.
Anyone else get follow-up calls from a samples order?
