Storage Manager
Storage Engineer
Requirements:
Storage Engineer, ITRP
·
Storage
and storage networking (SAN) systems architecture, design, engineering,
implementation, support, and maintenance - including installation,
configuration, troubleshooting, and patching storage subsystems and fabric
switches.
· Ability to allocate and assign
(provision) storage in a virtual SAN and virtual storage environment using
platform tools and defined processes.
· Responsibilities will include daily
procedures related to the verification normal operations, which may include the
monitoring and troubleshooting of error reports related to storage
infrastructure components.
· Perform tests and support
responsibilities for projects requiring storage and SAN components while
adhering to the corporate guidelines and specifications.
· Perform daily tasks
associated with scheduled and unscheduled activities including storage capacity
planning, and storage utilization.
· Provide assistance in the design and
engineering of the shared SAN architecture to meet the business needs within
accepted corporate guidelines.
· Analyze implementations and
configurations against vendor services, proposals and products, assess risks
and
recommend enhancements or alternatives.
· Perform daily tasks as required by the
company change control processes, including creation and peer review of change
control requests, and change and incident management tickets.
·
Maintain
and update organizational and technical documentation required to sustain
storage group effectiveness.
· Perform all other duties as assigned or
required.
Qualifications
· BS Degree and minimum of 5 yrs related
experience or 10 yrs of related experience( e.g. Technical or Operations)
· 5-10 years experience with SANs and Fibre
Channel protocol with conversational knowledge of storage transport options..
TSM
knowledge a plus, and demonstrated ability to engage in enterprise backup and
disaster recovery strategy, implementation, and management (monitoring).
· 5-10 years experience demonstrating
effective interpersonal skills and the ability to assess client needs. Ability
to participate and interact in a team environment.
· 5-10 years experience
demonstrating strong verbal and written skills necessary for clear definition
of
scope, technical solutions, project deliverables, appropriate system
documentation and client communication.
· 5-10 years experience in the principles
and concepts of storage hardware (Storage subsystems, disk, tape, ATLs, VTS,
switches) with 5 years minimum experience and functional knowledge of similar
Open Systems backup environments and open systems Fibre Channel SANs and
storage
subsystems.
· 5-10 years experience in the
identification of various problems, along with strong troubleshooting skills.
· 2 years Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)
experience - preferred
· 5 years of open systems experience
(Intel/Windows, Linux, VMware and IBM/UNIX based) - preferred
Key Technologies
· IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC)
·
Cisco
MDS Fibre Channel switch platforms, Brocade Communications Fibre Channel switch
platforms, and demonstrated proficiencies in port provisioning and zoning,
VSAN/LSAN creation and maintenance, and the creation and maintenance of ISL
networks
· IBM ESCON/FICON
· Knowledge and experience
with CWDM/DWDM technologies and networks (Cisco, Nortel, Ciena, etc)
·
Experience with NetApp FAS series (or IBM
N-Series), IBM 4xxx, 8xxx, FastT series, ESS series, HP EVA, EMC Symmetrix,
DMX,
Clariion, Centera, Celera
· Knowledge and experience with storage
replication technologies, such as NetApp SNAPcopy, IBM Flashcopy, and metro
& global mirroring architectures, strategies, and implementation.
