Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer / Performance Testing Essential Functions: * Develop and execute performance test strategy, plans and cases for network security products. * Analyze web security solutions, characterize their performance, and identify bottlenecks. * Present and communicate performance testing results to project teams and management. * Collaborate with members of internal and external organizations to validate performance improvements. * Conduct performance testing to provide input into customer deployment planning efforts. * Create, document, and own defects from discovery through closure. * Configure networking equipment, Linux and Windows systems, and network security applications as needed to complete testing. * Report test results and track test schedules for assigned features and functionality. * Provide technical expertise on specific products, operating systems and specialized environments. * Assist other organizations in the resolution of important customer issues. Expectations: * Ability to analyze network, operating systems, and application performance and create detailed test reports. * Develop a functional breakdown of complex network security systems to develop targeted, useful performance test cases. * Work in an exceptionally methodic manner to recreate scenarios which reveal bugs in the product, and communicate these steps to other engineers and organizations. * Show initiative in gaining in-depth experience in areas of technology relevant to testing of company products. * Possess strong knowledge of functional and performance test methodologies and workflows. * Work well in a team environment and singularly. * Excel in an environment of continuous change. * Track record of meeting deadlines. * Strong written and oral communication skills. Required: * Bachelor's degree in a technical field. * * 3 - 5 years of network, application, or server testing. Exceptional familiarity with Linux and Windows application and network functionality. * In-depth knowledge of performance test methodologies and the defect reporting processes * Strong familiarity with the OSI model and its application to network security devices. Demonstrated ability to capture and analyze network traffic. Desired: * Significant experience with switch, router, load-balancer, and network security appliances. * Experience with Cisco IOS, Windows and Linux system administration, and scripting languages (perl, bash, jscript, tcl). * Experience with performance testing tools including Silk Performer, Spirent Avalanche/Reflector, IxLoad, or Smartbits, and the scripting of these tools * Ability to develop and execute unit- level tests. * Demonstrated ability to understand and troubleshoot layer 2-7 protocols, including HTTP, ICAP, TCP, UDP, and Ethernet, based on RFCs.
