Software Quality Assurance Engineer Responsibilities • Works with development to help troubleshoot coding problems. • Works on test script automation procedures using a variety of software programming languages including Perl, C++ and others as the specific job requires. • Performs simple tool development and test automation tasks for individual projects or components. • Participates in code and design reviews on code written by development engineers. • Develops documents, maintains, and trains staff on test automation and environment simulation tools and collects basic SQA metrics. • • Ability to isolate defects effectively and provide specific conditions for reproducibility in the debugger. • Knowledge and experience of the product testing process; including black box, white box, stress and others. • Demonstrate a beginning understanding of OO design and implementation. Examples include abstraction, reuse and inheritance. • Demonstrate an understanding of resource locks, defensive coding and synchronization. Ability to identify and solve basic security problems like buffer overflows, default logic fail safes (fail to deny/ restrict). • Ability to lead the testing effort for a component of the product. Ability to work well with others on the QA team to come up with the best testing strategies. • Assists with the development, testing, and implementation of software quality plans and the evaluation of quality plans at the component level. • Demonstrates skill in the collection of a project metrics related to their own work and that of their work group. • Works within established practices to maintain, modify, and enhance existing software quality methods and processes, and participates in the development and testing of new software quality assurance methods. • Completes process documentation for testing standards, and maintains documentation of test results. Qualifications • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience 2-4+ years of relevant experience. Certifications; CISSP, MCSE, CNE and other like certifications are a plus. • Candidates for this position will have experience in the full range of product testing with extensive experience in white box testing, preferably with a security product • The ability to code in C/C++ and a scripting language (Perl, Python, etc...) are required. • Strong communication skills both verbal and written are required. • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for delivering high quality products and have a track record for successfully testing and delivering products.
