Software Test Engineer QUALIFICATIONS: • 0-3 years of test engineering experience, or equivalent. • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. • Master’s degree (M.S.) preferred. • Excellent analytical skills. • Effective interpersonal communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment. • Demonstrated software/electrical problem solving skills. • Experience with C++, C#, HTML, Java code language. • Experience with embedded systems. • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, etc. Generally involves sitting most of the time. • Must have the ability to work with and assemble small objects and component parts. • Ability to operate common office equipment (e.g. calculator, PC, telephone, etc.) and common measuring devices. • Must have good visual acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills. • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.). • Must be able to generate, follow and explain detailed instructions and design parameters. • Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately. • Must be able to analyze and correct complex test designs. Qualifications/Work Experience GENERAL DESCRIPTION: To verify the software on new products is safe and effective, and meets design specifications. Verifications include white box, grey box, and black box tests on software modules and systems. To work closely with design teams to rapidly iterate and test code during the development phase. To coordinate software testing with overseas engineers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Coordination of testing new products, components and designs. • Writes a test protocol to outline to individual tests to be completed. • Maintains a strong relationship with the design team throughout the entire design process. • Understands the software specifications of various devices, as well as the intended use of the device. • Designs tests cases to create a comprehensive system level test. • Uses code checking software (i.e. Parasoft) to perform module/function level code testing. • Develops software and electrical design to create automated test fixtures for data collection. • Abiding by all restrictions and guidelines set forth by the Quality System Regulation (QSR). • Develops tests using latest technology that are more accurate, more time-efficient, and more cost-effective than previous tests. • Coordinates software testing with overseas test firms. • Understand, interprets, and implements software validation requirements for medical devices, including ISO62304. • May involve the supervision and evaluation of a subordinate Test Engineer. • May be responsible for coordinating offsite training for subordinates.
