* * *Java architect with eCommerce exp * *Duration : 6 Months * *Location : NYC * DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *• Work as technical lead, architect, hands-on developer, and contributing team member. * • Evaluate business and technical requirements in order to write and implement technical specifications related to the company’s web initiatives. • Work with other members of the Applications Development team to implement technical specifications. • Partner with functional groups both internal to Scholastic Technology Service Group (e.g., project management, network operations) and external vendors in order to provide tightly integrated solutions between the web applications and the legacy backend systems. • Demonstrate expertise in the technologies chosen for developing Scholastic’s *web application solutions (e.g., J2EE applications, Websphere App Server, WebSphere Commerce, Interwoven TeamSite, GWT, Endeca Search Engine, GWT, Ajax, EJB, Struts, MQ, LDAP, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server database). * • Author application code both collaboratively and independently while ascribing to best practice version control and development methodologies • Design and build applications for scalability and redundancy. • Adhere to industry standards and Scholastic Technology Service Group-defined guidelines and principles for software engineering. • Quickly ascertain existing applications and underlying codes and architecture in order to aid in defect detection and resolution.
