I haven't done one of these carbs. But, I have the Honda manual. I'll share what I can see in it. The K7 Supplement states the float height setting is 12.5 mm (0.492 in.). However, the supplement does not show the reference points.
The only depiction of float height setting is in the K0 section of the manual. I know these carbs are different from those on the K7. But, for what it's worth, they show a generally U shaped gauge thast spans the float bowl to carb body interface, arcing over the floats. It has steps in the U for the bottom of the floats to rest on and well as the main jet surface farthest from the carb body. To restate, there are three reference points on the gauge; the main jet, the bottom of the float and the carb body bowl mount face. I know that, on the CB550, the float height is measured from the bowl to body surface to the lowest part of the float. The measurement is taken where the float valve just closes. But, that measurement is 22mm, quite a bit larger than the setting for your carbs. Assuming your carbs came off a running bike, look for the intended 12.5 mm dimmension with the carbs in your hand. If there is no joy there then its the clear tube up the side to determine the actual fuel level. The idle jet pickup must be immersed in fuel, without the bowl overflowing. Would be much nicer to just set them and then remount onto the bike, though.
