Don, Behind the left enginecover there is the little spindle that should move the pint through the engine towards the other side of the engine.
Is the sindle working correctly? Is the pin not broken? ____________________________________________ Ren van Maanen HONDA SOHC/4 Specialist CB350F CB400F CB500F CB550 CB750 Reparatie, Restauratie, Onderhoud en Onderdelen Apeldoorn, Netherlands Mob: +31 (0)6 1484 6559 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Website> honda4.nl <http://honda4.nl> Due to a recently installed spamkiller my replies may take longer than usual. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of LT Don & Debbie Sent: maandag 22 september 2003 19:09 To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: '72 CB-500K clutch --=====================_12074485==.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed I fear my clutch has given up the ghost. It has been hanging in 1st gear (pulling away from a dead stop) when the bike is warmed up and, after being adjusted best I can from what is shown in the shop manual, it will work ok (but not properly) for a few miles and then it is as if there is no friction at all. One can release the clutch lever and just sit there, as if in neutral. To get the bike home for lunch today (just a few miles from my office) I had to adjust the clutch so the plates were touching, pop the bike from neutral to 1st, and then take back streets through residential areas in first gear, being careful to avoid roads with stop signs. Am I doing something wrong on the adjustment -- I know, difficult to say without actually being here to see what I am doing -- or is it simply time to replace the clutch? Worth noting is that the bike was running fine in any gear except 1st. Had completed a 60 mile loop at 60 mph with no problem, other than that the clutch started slipping badly in 1st gear. If I need to replace the clutch, where should I be looking for parts? The normal sources (Dennis Kirk and bikebandit.com) don't seem to go back to '72, at least in the catalog or web site.
