Second that!  The cheaper deep socket sidewalls are too thick so the 
overall diameter is too great.  Warning, spark plugs can vary as well. 
Champion makes plugs that fit these bikes but uses a different socket size 
than does the more common ND plugs.

I found a craftsman 18MM deep socket worked.  Some sockets would not fit 
the
hole.
