I am not speaking from personal experience, but I've heard that the oil 
holes don't line up between the earlier barrels and the F1 and F2 heads 
(sounds weird, but I'd check before doing it).  I would be interested if 
this were possible, because I would try the opposite and fit a K-head to an 
F2 block.
