OK folks, here's my testimonial pitch for vintage road racing. If you ever have had an interest in racing here's the best way to get in. WERA is now allowing stock CB350's into the 350 gp class. It is absolutely the most fun I have ever had on a bike. It has helped me explore my riding limits, taught me volumes, and I have developed great friendships.
For this class you can only change jets, front end, cam chain (necessary always!) and suspension. The advantage here is there is some form of cash cap, you are racing against bikes very similar to yours, and you can focus on the craft of racing. Also the 350 twin is a widely available bike. The experience of truly racing someone; analyzing their style and weaknesses, your strengths and then passing them, (and then having them pass you again ); being part of a pack of four close racers switching positions repeatedly in one race; or having an IoMTT winner slice through several close riders inches from your tucked in elbow is beyond words. It's a focused world completely different from track days or street riding. It's a gentleman's sport with room for everyone - if you have ever had any interest in getting on track I'd take the opportunity.
