Well bugger me I learned today modern technology can cause you lots of grief sometimes. The gear selector would not return each time a gear change was made when I had the cover on - when it was off gears selected fine.
Solution! When I took the cover off and cleaned it I had scraped the old gasket off and used a gasket goo to replace the gasket. I figured out this was the only change I'd made recently so cut a new gasket out of a beer carton installed it and problem solved. The gasket thickness was all that stopped the gear selector sticking. AMAZING BUT TRUE!!! Am a happy chappy now!!!! Regards Steelo
