Hey Cammers,
Its was a long weekend, but I thought I'd share my adventures with the
list and let them know of the most recent addition to the horde of SOHC
bikes in the shop.

First, a big thanks to Mike Rieck! He put me in touch with a friend of
his in Farmingham, MA, Dave Gilbert, owner of DCM Services, a machine shop
of high end products.

The story... Some of you may remember that I had a verbal agreement with a
guy for a rolling Seeley chassis. The jackass sold them one night on ebay
in 20 minutes. I was disappointed, and I posted a warning on SOHC4.net
about the whole affair. So, Mike comes in and saves the day by telling me
of his friend, Dave Gilbert, who has a Seeley rolling chassis that has never
been used sitting in his shop. Dave and I exchange phone calls and Dave
sends me about 15 pictures of his stuff. So, Dave and I struck a deal.
Dave was driving a large trailer of bikes and such to Daytona for bike
week, so he was able to add all my stuff and haul it to Daytona. Sunday, I
drove from my sister's place in Pensacola to Daytona and then back to
Daytona. Nothing like a 16 hour drive to make you nutty. That was my first
trip to Daytona, and let me assure you, there were a million bikes there. I
saw some of the most appalling displays of motorcycle driving I've ever
seen. I was glad I was in my truck. I would have felt safer on a race
track that on the streets of Daytona. Riders cutting lanes, running red
lights, weaving in and out of traffic - not way, I wanted out of there. So,
I met Dave and his crew and we had my stuff loaded and I was back on the
road in 20 minutes.
So, me and my 800 pounds of stuff were back on the road.

Here's what I got: A never used Seeley "race only" frame. It unique in
that the battery mounts over the rear tire. Its got a Seeley front end,
with Lockheed dual disc brakes. Large AL tank and seat (the rear AL section
of the seat covers the battery). Girling rear shocks. GP style full
fairing. AL front and rear rims. Clipons and AL oil tank. Dave threw in
tow "race" engines as well. One he thinks is a 1000c racer, its got an
alternator block off place, and a valve cover with cam hold down bolts
through the cover. The second engine they have almost no ide of whats in
it. Dave and friends evidently built several engines over the years and
raced them, but nothing was written down about these two engines, so they
don't remember whats inside them. Dave also threw in some misc regular SOHC
parts, like oil tank, head light bucket, etc.

So, I had a heck of a weekend! Thanks again to Mike! Dave Gilbert isn't
a member of the list, but if you ever do run into him, he is one heck of a
stand up guy, and he know's about hi po SOHC4 engines! Nicer guy you can't
meet.
Right now, I am just letting the Seeley sit in my shop. It will be a long
term project to get her right. I have my RC Engineering Cobra engine to put
in it and get it ready for some track days, eventually.
