make double/triple/quadruple sure you're using the correct mark.  I
had exactly the same problem with my 77 F, I was all ready to take a
round file to the slot in the points plate to make it longer by that
1 or 2mm that it needed.  2/3 timed perfectly, 1/4 wouldn't.  I was
positive I was using the correct mark, called my mechanic bro-in-law
who said "check which mark you're using".  So then I rechecked the
mark, used the OTHER one...  and VIOLA (or any other instrument), it
worked, no filing required...
