Fortunately, MOTOW through AMA now covers our (74 & older) bikes, a
change from the time I had the problem. However, I had agreed to pay for
the tow ($100) in order to get the bike off the side of a major highway,
but in 3 hours they never came, so I wrestled Barney down an embankment
and halfway up another, called a cab to get home, and a local dealer
picked it up the next day for $50. My original problem? The trip meter
sometimes pops the 100 mile wheel up a notch, (thought this was what
happened, but it didn't), and while cruising in the left lane, somehow
(floppy pants?) put the choke on full. Bike started bogging down while
running out of gas. Managed to get into the breakdown lane as it quit,
and coasted as far as I could. Really, I couldn't make this stuff up,
just a hint of the senior moments now happening. Also have HRC, but
haven't had to use them. My last flat, Jim Mail loaned me a whole wheel,
so I didn't have to leave the bike in a crummy neighborhood. I'll gladly
pass on the favor, if it's ever needed, give me a call, 617 323-2302.
Barney spends alot more time in the garage since I got the Valk, but I
rode the Barnster today, still tickin, & loving it. Thanks for listening,
Karen
