You can extend a filesystem with Solstice (SDS), which is free with Solaris
8, and I recommend you to take a look to manpages of "growfs" command, and
also on docs.sun.com you can find more related information, for example, for
solaris 9 you can find some useful on:
http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/816-4519/6manoju25?a=view and I suppose that
there may be some similar for Solaris 8
