I 've just checked the BIOS on my SunPCi2 card.
It's the same, CPU health reports 94degC and fan 0 rpm,
It's just a feature, I've been using this card for about a year with no
problems, don't bother taking it out.

Cheers.

Subject: [Solaris-Users] sunPCi2 fan/temp problem ?

hello all,

i have recently installed a sunPCi2 card in one of our E450 servers (FYI
it is also a SunRay 2.0 server). i have installed the SunPCi 2.3.2
drivers and have successfully installed Winboze NT4 WS. everything works
fine* - however when i enter the BIOS and go to the PC Health Status
Menu -> CPU Temp is showing 94 C and CPU Fan is showing 0 RPM. this
should mean that that the CPU Fan is not working however in the same
BIOS menu there is a line: Shutdown Temp: 60 C is selected but i have
not received any warning messages about high temperature nor the board
has shutoff automatically. i thought this could be a sofware problem so
i installed patch 113616-04 that updates the SunPCi BIOS to version
1.017 - the temp problem stays the same. is there other way of checking
the temp of the CPU or the only solution is to pull out the server from
the rack an power-it on without covers to check if the fan is working ?
one more thing - why is full screen view not implemented i cannot seem
to find a way to make the SunPCi2 2.3.2 software work full-screen on the
sunrays.
all this is a test setup system.... and yes i don't like windows :P

* there was a small "right-click mouse button not working" problem with
the sunrays but patch 113616-04 fixed that.
