Try downloading 'top' (eg from sunfreeware.com) and running it - that will tell you which processes are taking the most resources. Solaris 8 has a nice gui utility that does the same thing

Hi list, I've got a problem with a solaris machine running a 2.x version. The computer is really slow and even sometimes gets all frozen. I know a good approach to attack the problem would be to kill the unnecessary running processes because they certainly take some resources from the terminal. I've looked at the number of services that are being executed and I noticed there's a process called DS.SERVER or something like that, which actually appears quite a few times when using the command ps. What's that service for? Can I just kill it without affecting the machine's performance? Yahoo!
