I just checked my OBP,

I guess i have a pretty old one...

I will download the 106121-18 from:

When I do this ...do I really need to open my cover and change some jumper settings?

because i dont understand this step in the readme:

4 e) Set JP2 to write enable at 2+3. Default is write protect at 1+2
      Locate jumper JP2.

      Jumper JP2 provides a write enable/disable mechanism for the
      Flash PROM. JP2 normally connects pins 1+2, which causes the
      Flash PROM to be write protected. To enable patch installation,
      write enable the Flash PROM by MOVING the JP2 jumper from pins 1+2
      to pins 2+3.

      **IMPORTANT NOTE**: If this jumper is NOT set to WRITE ENABLE, the
        Flash update will fail.

      (If you have difficulty locating JP2 then consult Figure 1-3 in the "Sun Flash PROM Guide for Workstations and Workgroup Servers -
       Standalone Version").

try updating the OBP.

I have an Ultra 10 (the same motherboard etc..) with a 80gig ide disk.

latest OBP:

OBP_3.31.0,POST_3.1.0,OBDIAG_P2.9

patch 106121-18

details from sun say for mem:

Four DIMM slots

Install DIMMs in pairs (16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB, and 128 MB DIMMs); quad provides best performance

512 MB maximum

but i've installed 1 gig in the Ultra 5, but i had to remove the floppy to get the DIMMS in as the 256M dimms are much taller, the floppy won't fit in.

I have a Ultra Sparc 5...i want to put in a harddisk of 20 gig's ...

I have done that ..but the Sun machine recognize the harddisk as a 10 GIG ...how is this possible?

And allso can anyone tell me what kind of memmory the Ultra Sparc 5 uses (i have 128 MB but I want more) and what is the maximum allowed memmory...

Can someone allso tell me what the biggest harddisk is that i can put into the Ultra Sparc 5?
