hello Andreas,

to make a snapshot of the system or to clone/archive systems you could
use Sun's Webstart flash
(http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/webstartflash/). webstart flash
could also be used in conjunction with Sun's jumpstart technology to
minimize installation and recovery time.
here is a good article that you may find useful: Rapid Patching and
Upgrading with Solaris Live Upgrade Software
http://www.filibeto.org/~aduritz/truetrue/jumpstart/rpu-live-upgrade.html

there is a way to create a bootable cd that will do an unattended
installation and this is described in this article: Customizing
JumpStart Framework for Installation and Recovery
(http://www.filibeto.org/sun/lib/blueprints/816-7587-10.pdf)
you could also take a look at Sun's Jumpstart Enterprise Toolkit:

you can find good articles about jumpstart here:
http://www.sun.com/solutions/blueprints/browsesubject.html#jumpstart

greetings,
Stoyan
