Dear colleagues,

Let me introduce myself.

I am a system administrator at the School of Geosciences, University of
Sydney. Here at the school we have a mixture of everything including
Solaris, Linux, Windowz, MacOSX, BSD, etc.

The problem I have is application related one. We have a legacy
application ( plates - software for Geodynamics modeling ) that runs
Solaris 2.4, 2.5, 2.6. As far as I know ( I know little ) the software
requires some openwindows libraries which Solaris 2.7 and later are
missing because SUN dropped support for openwindows after 2.6.

The easiest way would be to install 2.6, but we do not have any spare
Solaris machine available at this stage.

Would anyone have an idea how can I get a legacy application that
requires specific libraries from 2.5 to run on a later platform e.g. 2.7 ?

Thank you in advance.

Ivan

P.S. Our research folks are developing a Gnu cross platform version of
plates; details are http://sourceforge.net/projects/gplates/ if anyone is
interested. Is is not ready for production till the end of the year.
