We have ported an application from AIX to Solaris 5.8 and get the error

We believe this may be a Solaris configuration issue?

Anyone any ideas?

Process limits are set in the shell via either limit or ulimit (run with -a to see all current limits) or in /etc/system via maxuprc and max_nprocs. You can also use plimit to check/change the limits of a currently running process.

If nothing looks odd in the limits, then you'll need some better diagnostics from that application - that's a rather sparse error message.
