Hi,
I want to backup a file over to 15GB a tape DDS-4, but an error
unexpected appears : "file too large to archive", how can i backup
on the tape??
compressing the file a file.tar or file.Z,,???; any ideas??
I don't know the first thing about tapes, but you should make sure
that the file system on the tape (I assume that a tape has a file
system....) supports Large Files, i.e. files larger than 2**31 (2GB).
Also you need to uses Large_File aware binaries when treating such
files. compress and tar are Large_File aware, however zip is not.....
If the backup process writes sequentially to the tape, you could
tjeck if the process stops when the file reaches 2GB.
To back up you could use tar and pipe the output to compress.
Hope this helps,
Steffen
I hope you can help me.
Greetings.
Marcos.
