Hello All, I'm running a Solaris 9 system that is a backup server for our environment. A client of mine is running a bunch of Windows 2003 servers, and because they HAVE to listen to Microsoft, they have some security settings which are causing my system to have problems. Basically, when they disable "Path MTU Discovery", their windows system defaults to an MTU of 536 bytes for all servers outside of its subnet. When this happens, the network performance between their 2003 server and my Solaris 9 servers is severely degraded. The tricky thing is, another admin here is running a Solaris 10 server on the same subnet that I am on, but their network performance is fine when communicating with the Windows servers. He also runs Solaris 9 servers, and has found the same network performance issues. So to summarize: Windows 2003 Path MTU Discovery is disabled = network performance problem with Solaris 9 Windows 2003 Path MTU Discovery is disabled = no performance issues with Solaris 10 Has anyone ever heard of this before? Am I just taking crazy pills here? Thanks, Jeff Ekstrom Solutions Engineer SANZ, Inc. Vienna, VA (571) 643-8402 Cell [EMAIL PROTECTED]
