Hello List,

I have been given the task of managing a few Solrais 10 sparc boxes. I have created some soft partitions and want to move these FS onto them:

Soft-Partitions:

 d30 - usr
 d31 - home
 d32 - opt
 d33 - tmp
 d34 - var
<snip>

hello Jon,

your first message did appear on the list - you can find it at the list archive:

now on your question. while it may be possible to put some of the above mentioned file systems on soft partitions i would not recommend using that strategy. you may consider following some of the pest practices for your boot disk layout:
http://wikis.sun.com/display/BigAdmin/BootDiskLayout

here is an interesting thread on the subject:

for the /home being not writable - you should, by default create the home directories under /export/home. the automounter, when configured uses /home as mount point.

greetings,

Stoyan
