Hi all!

Solaris 10 8/07 s10x_u4wos_12b X86
Patched all the way up to current....

I'm not the first to wonder about how to get this tool working. Google
showed many others with the same problem. However, what seems to be
missing is a definitive solution. Most of the posts to various
groups/mailing lists seem to date back to 2005/2006.

First I tried to start smc from the command line
smc &
Once launched, that produced an error message in the console:
No Solaris Management Console server was available on the specified
server. Please ensure that there is a Solaris Management Console
server available on the specified host and that it is running.

Some Googling revealed the way to start it, so I tried to start the
server in the prescribed manner:

/etc/init.d/init.wbem status
Solaris Management Console server not running on port 898

/etc/init.d/init.wbem start
Solaris Management Console server not running on port 898

Now things get weird:

/etc/init.d/init.wbem stop
Server found to be unstable.
It has been repaired and can now be restarted

Except a subsequent start attempt yielded the same as above.

The Administrators Guide didn't seem to point to how to solve this,
and as said above, no (recent) search results point to any solution.

So....in a word; "HELP!"

Regards (and much TIA)
-Colin
