You can use named pipes to send flar on the fly via ftp. Use this code as 
starting point
mkfifo myname
ftp -vn ftp.mysite.com < myname 
echo 'user myusername mypassword' >> myname
echo 'passive' >> myname
echo 'cd /stuff/test_data/' >> myname
echo 'put filename.flar' >>myname

or use lftp client
flarcreate.. | lftp -u user,passwd domain.tld -e "put /dev/stdin -o 
filename.flar; quit"
