As for non English speaker, duple and triple time are much more understandable 
what is behind it than binary and ternary but I cannot argue how is it 
scientifically absolutely correct. 

In the case of Solfege exercises (like Rhytms binary time and ... ternary time 
) there is actually no meter, no time in that sense, isn't it better to use 
binary / ternaru BEATS or GROUPS?

in the case of 'beats'  binary/ternary is correct.

For me personally, it is absouletly OK how it is now and does not seem 
confusing at all.
