It comes from GNU LilyPond, the music engraver. Solfege uses a data
format for music that is inspired by a subset of the lilypond
language.

So  c' is the middle C on the piano.

Maybe it would have been better if I used the names C0-C1-C2...C10 in
the preferences window.
