There really isn't any easy way for a "plugin" to modify the web.xml to 
register new servlets ... but i think this would definitely be a usefull enough 
feature to include in the core -- i'm just not fond of having hte form on the 
main page ... linking to an explicit "update" page with a form like the one you 
made with a text area and file upload options would be fine ... it could also 
incorporate options for triggering the new bulk-loading options Yonik has been 
working on in SOLR-66 as well.
