in a nut shell, i think this issue *can* be resolved won't fix ... but i'm not
opposed to leaving open if someone wants to work on it. there are ways for
people to configure solr so that all the fields they want to facet on are
faceted on by defualt (when configuring the requestHanlder) which is safer then
wild carding.
