(replying to solr-dev since this was regarding a SOlr issue ... not sure how/why it made it to java-dev orriginally) : Key, I think we have the practice to keep issues in Fixed state (not : Closed). I'm not sure if closing them does any harm or not in terms of : JIRA workflow/figuring out what was fixed/reports and such...anyone : knows? it shouldn't matter ... once upon a time i think the practice in Lucene as a whole was to leave issues marked "FIXED" until a release containing the fix was published, then bulk change them to "CLOSED". that made it easy to see at a glance that an issue was resolved but not yet released ... but with Jira it's pretty trivial (and fast) to generate reports by version number. By the looks of things, we haven't been very good about bulk closing issues when release go out. -Hoss
