No, Solr works hard to guarantee compatibility one major revision back so any 6x version should be able to work fine with any 5x version.
A couple of free bits of advice, worth what you pay for them: 1> don't just use your configs from 5x in 6x. Rather start with the stock 6x configs and customize them as you did for 5x. 2> Really look over the CHANGES.txt, particularly hte upgrade section for all versions between 5.5.4 and 6.6.2. 3> If you _can_ reindex, I always do if for no other reason than that'll force me to look at what's new and make use of it.
