It's working for me. Compiled, inserted in solr/lib, added the config
line to solrconfig.
when I send a /flaxtest request i get
<response>
<lst name="responseHeader">
<int name="status">0</int>
<int name="QTime">16</int>
</lst>
<str name="FlaxTest">Hello!</str>
</response>
I was doing this within a core defined in solr.xml
