What did you do to install it? What code line did you start from? 1.4 Solr? 3.1? Fresh trunk update?
What jar? The usual method of applying a patch is to get the entire source tree, apply the patch and then re-compile all of solr. Perhaps this page would help: http://wiki.apache.org/solr/HowToContribute Note that this patch is a zip file, not in the usual patch format, so doing this may be a bit tricky.
