SOLR-3076 for beginners?

Hi,

blockjoin seems to be a real cool feature. Unfortunately I'm to dumb, to 
get the patch running. I even don't know what to do :-(

Is there anywhere an example, a howto or a cookbook, other than using 
elasticsearch or bare lucene?
