The "Upgrading from Solr 4.1.0" section of the 4.2.0 CHANGES.txt says:
"(No upgrade instructions yet)" To me that's not the same as no need to do anything. I think the doc should be updated with either specific instructions or states 4.2.0 is backward compatible with 4.1.0 so there is no need to do anything.
