I'm guessing you're well aware that the example you
gave is parsed as search_field:love default_field:obama.
Which isn't pertinent, there's nothing that
looks like it should take any time at all here, to say
nothing of 120 seconds.
So start with &debug=query and see what the
filter query is parsed as, especially the section
"parsed_filter_queries" in the debug output.
