I've spent the last
6 months researching and isolating a major Sonicwall bug.
Unfortunately, it
only affects users running in PPPoE mode (NOT DHCP or static) AND if you are
making a high volume of UDP requests (e.g. DNS lookups).
Because of this I
haven't been able to get SW to fix the problem as they say I'm the only one
reporting it.
As I find that hard
to believe, I'm sending this email to find others who might be having the same
problem.
The symptom you'll
experience is intermittent surfing after several days of uptime...rebooting the
Sonicwall clears the problem. Most importantly, you'll see the 'nat table
error' count in the hundreds. To verify this do the
following:
1) Connect to your
sonicall admin page
2) Go to tools and
select 'Generate Tech Support Report'
3) Save the report
to your PC and open with wordpad
4) Search for 'nat
table'
You are likely
having this problem is you see something like:
total bounding errors: 0, connection table
errors 0, nat table errors >>223<<<
Also, there will
likely be 10 or 20 lines above this line like this:
countedElem 2 nodes, backwardsCountedElem 1 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct says 30 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct says 22 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct says 74 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct says 6 nodes
counted 2 nodes, struct says 42 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct says 90 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct says 86 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct says 9 nodes
counted 1 nodes, struct
says 33 nodes
If your Sonicwall is
generating these errors, plz. contact me so that I can append you to my existing
Sonicwall case.
