Richard --

I'd suggest you trying setting it up without the SMC box first. I have set
this exact configuration up (last year at some point) and there were issues
with NAT up front but I *did* get it working. Once you've established you
can run without the SMC box, you can add it back into the mix again... (so
the answer is "no" you don't really need a real IP address on the client
side.. )

Subject: [SonicWALL]- VPN Question.

I've been trying to set up a vpn off and on for some time now.
I'm using the whitepapers that I supplied to the list a few weeks ago.
The question I cant find an answer to is, Do you need a "real" IP address on
the client side.
At home I'm runnung an SMC Barracade router using NAT. (which will pass
IPSEC traffic)
For the life of me I can't connect. I'm ready to pull my hair out.
On the Host side I have a Sonicwall SOHO2 50 user with VPN.

TIA
