You're going to have a very tough time blocking an IM client with just the 
Sonicwall.  What you
really need is a content filter or NIDS that does stateful inspection.  One of the 
things about MSN
Messenger, is that if it finds it can't communicate with the server on its default 
port(s), it'll
automatically go to another one until it finds a way to connect.

I've read where is was port 1863

then I read you need to block
6891-6900 tcp
7801-7825 tcp
6801 udp
6901 udp
2001-2120 udp

Not sure yet but my question is....


Does it matter if the rule is WAN to LAN or LAN to WAN?
