Yes you can. I have one - on the SonicWALL side it's IKE using Pre-Shared secret and ESP 3DES HMAC SHA1.
Don't ask me about the Pix side - the net admin at our collaborator company did that end.
Works like a charm.
 
As I recall the doc we referenced was the one regarding how to get a SW to talk to a CheckPoint box.
