You can create SW to Cisco and SW to Checkpoint VPN connections, so theoretically if you can get the linux box to emulate one of these negotiations, then it should work.
I would recommend that if you want to get this working, that you approach it like this: get a SW-SW (or SW-cisco, etc) connection in place and then replace the SW with the linux box. this might help you troubleshoot problems in the long run.

...and by all means if you get it to work, please share your results with the list.

Greetings, list!
I have a quick question for all of the fellow Linux hackers out
there. Is it possible to create a VPN between a Linux box and a
Sonicwall? I have asked the Sonicwall folks, and they all said it was
impossible to create any VPN connection w/o the Sonicwall client, and
that there will be no client for Linux.  Anyone have any suggestions?
